Newmark bolsters DC Team with Mueller & Asbill

Washington, DC — Newmark continues to strengthen its Washington, DC presence with the addition of Doug Mueller as vice chairman and Andrew Asbill as executive managing director.

Mueller will spearhead agency leasing efforts in Washington, DC, focusing on office landlord representation.

In 2024, Mueller’s team completed over 100 transactions, one every three days, resulting in their being recognized as CREBA’s 2024 Top Agents of the Year. Further highlighting his robust track record, he has successfully closed more than 1,000 transactions over the course of his career, representing more than 20 million s/f, with an aggregate deal volume of more than $5 billion.

Mueller joins Newmark from JLL, where he served as an executive managing director and was co-head of the firm’s Agency Leasing team in Washington, DC. While there, Mueller drove the expansion of the team, growing its portfolio from one million s/f in 2012 to 20 million s/f of office buildings in various product types and locations.

In his new role, Asbill will partner with the Debt & Structured Finance team led by vice chairman Joe Donato.

Asbill has been involved in more than $10 billion in transactions including a number of high-profile projects in the Washington market.

Asbill brings 25 years of experience structuring capital stacks across property types. His specialties include senior loans, construction loans, preferred equity, mezzanine debt and investment sales. He joins from Transwestern, and previously worked for JLL.
