What is your most notable project, deal or transaction? One of my favorite projects that I worked on recently was a mixed-use healthcare facility for Inova in Fairfax, VA. It involved replacing the infrastructure of an existing 9-story office building with new systems to accommodate two floors of inpatient rehab with medical office building functions on the remaining floors. The project presented numerous challenges such as dealing with existing conditions, going from a business to a healthcare occupancy, and coordinating with other ongoing construction projects and infrastructure upgrades. The key to success was an open line of communication during construction with the client, architect, and contractors to ensure that everyone was collaborating and solving problems together. I always enjoy healthcare projects and seeing how the buildings we design positively affect the health of people in the community. How do you contribute to your company and/or the industry? Since my first days as an intern, I have been raised in the healthcare environment. I really enjoy this type of work, and am able to be a technical resource for those in and outside of our firm due to my experience. I really enjoy listening to and working with clients to determine the best approach for their healthcare facilities.
