Tell us how and when you began your career in the profession you are in?
I am a licensed attorney as well as a real estate broker. I started working with corporate real estate departments around 2002 as they were developing their first real estate databases. The Jackson Cross team now works with some of the most complex real estate portfolios worldwide, implementing and managing portfolio data .
How do you manage the work/ life balance?
I try to leave my cell phone in the car to charge overnight. Anyone that really needs me has my landline number at home. It forces me to “be present” when I walk in the door for dinner. (That being said - I do check work email at home on my Ipad but at least I refrain from texting!)
Do you feel there are any differences in the way that men and women develop business relationships and if so, what activities or venues do you participate in?
Not only do women and men network differently, millennials network differently then those of us over 50! There is no magic formula - you need to find something that works for you. I have been in a “Supper Group” for over 10 years - we are a group of professional women that get together at a nice restaurant for dinner. Sometimes we discuss business, our careers, kids or life. I always am amazed at how energized I am about my work after these dinners... it is energizing to be with diverse people who have different kinds of businesses and challenges. Find what works for you and be committed to showing up and nurturing your business relationships.
