Timmons Group acquires Maryland based Vogel Engineering

Baltimore, Maryland — Timmons Group, a civil engineering and technology firm headquartered in Richmond, VA, announced their expansion into Baltimore through the acquisition of Vogel Engineering. This 20-person firm provides civil engineering, land planning and surveying services, and has been operating in Maryland for 25 years. Timmons Group has an extensive portfolio of projects within Maryland, giving them the opportunity to provide additional civil engineering capabilities and expertise.

Led by Robert Vogel, PE, Vogel Engineering focuses on residential, institutional, industrial/commercial and mixed-use projects for local and national developers, builders, and construction firms. Vogel will continue his leadership at Timmons Group as head of the Baltimore office. “We are excited about this acquisition as Vogel Engineering will be able to offer a wider range of service in house, and we will have the support of over 500 personnel,” said Vogel.

“As we continue to expand our project portfolio into Maryland, we have been looking for opportunities to better serve our clients within this region,” said Brian Bortell, president of Timmons Group. “What initially attracted us to Vogel Engineering was their client centric approach to business. Their extensive portfolio is proof that they’ve provided creative and innovative solutions for complex regulations clients encounter, and we think this is a great fit for our firm.”

With over 500 employees across the United States, Timmons Group has extensive experience in Maryland. Notable projects include the Social Security Administration’s National Support Center in Urbana, the Naval Main Exchange site in Bethesda, and multiple retail locations for Wells Fargo across the state. Timmons Group also provides landscape architecture, environmental, transportation, water/wastewater, geotechnical, survey, and GIS/geospatial technology services
