Kaplan and Schiller speak at PA Bar Institute

Philadelphia, PA — Manko, Gold, Katcher & Fox partners Jill Hyman Kaplan and Suzanne Ilene Schiller presented at the Pennsylvania Bar Institute’s 19th Annual Real Estate Institute at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. Kaplan and Schiller teamed up to discuss “Practice Pointers for Negotiating and Drafting Environmental Access Agreements.” In this session, the panelists reviewed both common and uncommon provisions in these agreements, whether in the context of the purchase of real property or investigation and remediation of contaminated land, and discussed best practices to avoid future disputes. Properly drafted Access Agreements are vital to protecting the interests and needs of both the party granting access and the one conducting the investigation or remediation. Kaplan advises clients on environmental aspects of real estate development and management and ways to limit their potential liability. She also designs, oversees and performs environmental health and safety audits and assists clients with compliance with complex regulatory schemes such as hazardous and non-hazardous waste regulations, stormwater requirements, Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act requirements, and Superfund and cleanup laws. She also counsels clients on OSHA matters. Schiller concentrates her practice in the areas of environmental, real estate and complex civil litigation, with particular experience in CERCLA cost recovery, real estate development, leasing, and land use matters. She tries jury and non-jury cases in federal and state courts and appears before administrative agencies, hearing boards and appellate courts throughout the country. Ms. Schiller is also a frequent speaker at legal and industry trade conferences, a regular author on real estate issues and currently the editor of MGKF’s Litigation Blog. MGKF concentrates its practice in environmental, energy, safety, and land use law and litigation.
