Philadelphia, PA — Katherine L. Vaccaro, a partner with Manko, Gold, Katcher & Fox, LLP (MGKF), the environmental, energy and land use law firm based just outside of Philadelphia, has been appointed to serve on the Upper Merion Township Environmental Advisory Council (EAC). The Council is dedicated to exploring and promoting ways to establish a more environmentally sustainable community. In her role on the EAC, Vaccaro, along with other Council members, will help evaluate issues regarding regulatory initiatives and potentially hazardous sites to support and advise the township’s Board of Supervisors, commissions, and personnel, and work with the community and regional organizations to promote environmental education and conservation initiatives.
Since joining the firm in 2005, Vaccaro has concentrated on regulatory matters related to air quality for a range of clients, including petroleum refineries, power plants, chemical manufacturers, and commercial entities. She has extensive experience in counseling clients on compliance issues arising under federal and state air pollution control regulations, assisting clients in securing air permits for a variety of complex industrial and commercial facilities, and negotiating agency enforcement actions alleging violations of regulatory requirements. In the litigation context, she has represented clients in challenging federal air regulations before the United States Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, particularly with respect to standards affecting the electricity generation sector.
