NEW CASTLE, DE — Landmark Science & Engineering announced that it received the “Conceptor Award,” the second highest award in the prestigious 2015 Engineering Excellence Awards competition sponsored annually by the American Council of Engineering Companies of Delaware.
The project was completed for Sallie Mae, Inc. A large stormwater pond that would also provide aesthetic and recreational amenities for the employees and a dynamic image for the business was envisioned.
This challenging project required innovative engineering solutions to manage storm water runoff during construction of the new 1.42-acre, two-tiered pond with a 96-foot waterfall, boardwalk, walkways with exercise stations, and picnic areas in the same location as the existing wet pond. The confined site, surrounded by office building, parking and I-95 added to the complexity.
“Keith Rudy, director of our Water Resources/Engineering division and “Engineer of Record” for this important and high-profile project, is commended for a great job in satisfying the client and their CM, Nason Construction, in facilitating construction of this pond retrofit set in a very challenging environment” said Landmark’s president Ted Williams, P.E, FACEC, a past Chairman of ACEC.
